A collaboration between WooCommerce and OpenNode has made it a lot easier to accept bitcoin for online stores.
Bitcoin in webshops
The bitcoin payment company has added its software to that of WooCommerce. This reportedly allows four million users of the payment plug-in to integrate bitcoin into their websites.
WooCommerce has all kinds of payment options baked in, such as PayPal, WooCommerce Payments (which includes Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa and Mastercard) and also direct bank transfers, Mollie or Stripe can be attached to the webshop software.
You could ovierwhere accept bitcoin via OpenNode and WooCommerce for some time. Now it is going to be the “preferred bitcoin payment provider”, as read in a tweet.

Record volumes
Co-founder and CTO Jão Almeida shares that sales through the plugin are growing exponentially. Lightning volume is at an all-time high. The first jump was made when El Salvador embraced bitcoin as legal tender in September 2021.

Earlier, it also integrated its software into Substack, the Argentine wallet Lemon Cash and OpenNode announced that they are working with the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) on bitcoin payments.
