Paul Amery
Paul Amery is European editor of IndexUniverse.com. He started writing on the European ETF market in 2008, following a 20-year career in the financial markets as fund manager, bond trader and private investor. He also worked as advisor to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine. Amery is a graduate of Cambridge and Oxford universities and is an associate of the Institute for Investment Management and Research.
Eric Anderson
Eric Anderson, CFA, is the European ETF Portfolio Manager with First Trust Advisors. Prior to working in London to manage the UCITS ETFs, Eric worked for seven years as a portfolio manager for First Trust ETFs in the US. The First Trust portfolio management team oversees 82 First Trust ETFs with assets under management totaling approximately $12 billion.
Eric has traveled across the US, as well as internationally presenting the First Trust ETF family and AlphaDEX methodology to the advisory community. He previously worked as a reinsurance analyst for Zurich North American Insurance Company.
Eric is a CFA charter holder, and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Finance.
Eduardo Antón
Eduardo Antón is responsible of the ETF research at Inversis Bank in Spain. Inversis provide advisory to institutional and HNW clients on asset allocation and multi asset portfolio construction. As a member of the Investment committee Anton has experience investing in ETFs for more than 6 years. Prior to joining Inversis Anton worked for Allfunds bank in Madrid. Antón holds an MBA by instituto de Estudios Bursatiles and a BA in economics by Universidad Anahuac Mexico.
Sanjay Arya
Sanjay Arya is the Senior Vice President of Morningstar Indexes. He is responsible for business strategy, product development and distribution of Morningstar Indexes. In this capacity, Arya works with existing and potential clients to build partnerships to enhance the usage and applications of Morningstar Indexes.
In his 20+ years at Morningstar, Arya has served in several capacities. Prior to his current position, he was the director of equity analysis. He has made numerous presentations on index related topics at professional conferences, meetings of professional organizations, and professional education programs. His opinions have been quoted in the industry and trade publications and he currently sits on the review board of the Journal of Indexes.
Arya holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, and has an MBA in finance from Cleveland State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and a member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago.
Paul Baiocchi
Paul Baiocchi is an ETF analyst at IndexUniverse. He received his MBA from the University of British Columbia. While in graduate school, Baiocchi worked as a consultant to Delta Global Advisors, creating internationally themed unit investment trust portfolios for Claymore funds. He later joined Delta full time as the firm’s senior market strategist.
Kai Bald
Kai Bald joined Deutsche Bank in 1997 and from 2001, he led Group Branding for the Deutsche Bank brand. From the end of 2007 to 2012, Kai Bald was the Global Head of db-X Marketing, responsible for the worldwide market development of db-X financial products with nearly EUR 100 billion in assets under management. In this role, he oversaw the global expansion of the ETF business db X-trackers. Since the end of 2012, Kai Bald is the Head of Public Distribution Passive Investments in the Global Client Group at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management.
Hortense Bioy
Hortense Bioy, CFA is director of passive fund research in Europe for Morningstar. Prior to assuming her role in 2012, she was an analyst covering European ETFs. Before joining Morningstar in 2010, Hortense was a financial journalist for five years at Bloomberg and Mergermarket. She began her career as a corporate finance analyst for Société Générale.
David Blitz, Ph.D.
David Blitz, Ph.D. is Senior Vice President and Co-Head Quant Research at Robeco, where he is responsible for coordinating all quantitative equity research efforts. He joined Robeco in 1995 after graduating cum laude in econometrics at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. In 2011 he obtained a Ph.D. in empirical finance from the same university. The stock selection models that are developed in David’s team serve as the sole performance driver for Robeco’s quantitative equity funds. As a spin-off of his research, he has published several papers in peer-reviewed academic journals, such as Journal of Empirical Finance, Journal of Portfolio Management and European Financial Management.
Christopher Clack
Christopher D. Clack is the Founder of the Financial Computing MSc Programme and the Thomson-Reuters Laboratory at UCL, leading a partnership with four multinational investment banks. He also founded the UK government-funded Financial Services Knowledge Transfer Network. In 2009 he was awarded the Doctor of Science (ScD) by the University of Cambridge (their highest degree for science). His current work models and analyses financial market instability emerging from interactions between computer trading algorithms.
John Coates
John Coates, Research Fellow in Neuroscience and Finance at the University of Cambridge, previously traded derivatives for Goldman Sachs and ran a trading desk for Deutsche Bank. He now researches the biology of risk taking and stress. His book, The Hour Between Dog and Wolf, was short listed for both the FT-Goldman Business Book of the Year, and the Wellcome Trust Science Prize; and was chosen book of the month by the British Army. His research has attracted interest from business, medicine, the military, as well as elite sports teams. The journal, Foreign Policy, named him one of the most influential thinkers of 2012.
Stephen Cohen
Stephen Cohen is head of iShares’ Investment Strategies EMEA. His team is responsible for providing clients with in-depth ETF market, portfolio and product analysis – together with insights into global markets and implementation strategies. He joined BlackRock in 2011 from Nomura where he was Global Head of Equity Linked Strategy, responsible for derivative, convertible and delta-one products.
He has considerable experience as an investment and market analyst, previously working in Japanese Convertibles at ING Barings from 2001-2003. Stephen began his career in UBS Fixed Income in 1996 where he held roles within relative value and hedge fund sales. In addition, Stephen has been a Director of Enovara, an Irish funds company. He earned a First Class honours degree in Economics from the University of Southampton in 1996.
Christos Costandinides
Christos is a beta and ETF market expert with experience across major asset classes and instruments. Formerly, he was Deutsche Bank’s European Head of ETF Research & Strategy where he was responsible for publishing the Bank’s award winning ETF research as well as helping key institutional clients, the press and other market participants formulate ETF market and portfolio implementation views. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Christos was a rating Analyst with Moody’s Investors Service, where he looked after a portfolio of published ratings on major asset managers and funds. Before Moody’s, Christos worked as a Portfolio Manager with Mellon Capital Management in San Francisco, where he managed Global Tactical Asset Allocation and currency overlay Strategies. Christos started his career as a Technology Mergers and Acquisitions investment banker with Société Générale Cowen in San Francisco.
Christos holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California at Berkeley, USA. He also holds a BA, Hons, in Industrial Economics and Accounting from the University of Nottingham, UK.
Mirzha de Manuel
Mirzha de Manuel is a Researcher at the European Capital Markets Institute (ECMI) and the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels. Mirzha’s research relates mainly to asset management regulation where he has coordinated a task force with various industry participants and regulators. He is MA in European Economic and Legal Analysis from the College of Europe and a qualified lawyer from the Bar of Madrid.
Sebastien Denry
Sebastien Denry is a product specialist at THEAM, a partner of BNP Paribas Investment Partners specialised in index, active systematic, guaranteed and alternative management. THEAM, created in 2011, is the result of an alliance between BNP Paribas Asset management SIGMA teams (Structured, Indexed and Generation of Multi-Alpha) and Harewood Asset Management.
Sebastien Denry began his career at BNP Paribas Asset Management in 2009 and joined the SIGMA team in 2010 as a product specialist on ETFs and indexed funds.
Sebastien holds a bachelor’s degree from ESSEC Business School.
Han Dieperink
As the Chief Investment Officer, Han Dieperink oversees investment strategy, investment research and portfolio management of Rabobank Private Banking. He advises on investment theories, styles and conditions of global markets, making strategic and tactical investment recommendations. Before Rabobank Han Dieperink was CIO of Schretlen & Co from 2000 till 2010. He joined Schretlen & Co in 1995 on the investment strategy department.
Stephen Doran
Stephen Doran is a Senior Fund Manager at HSBC Global Asset Management. He works within the multi-asset solutions team, who manage over £14 billion of multi asset products, ranging from unitised retail funds to segregated institutional mandates. He helps run the benchmark free Wealth Opportunities strategy, is a member of the fund selection committee and is the Exchange Traded Funds specialist for the department. Stephen joined HSBC Global Asset Management in 2005 after starting his career with JP Morgan and is a graduate of the University of St. Andrews. He has a degree in Management, a Masters in International Business and is a CFA Charterholder.
Pedro Fernandes
Pedro Fernandes is Head of Exchange Traded Products for Europe at NYSE Euronext. In this capacity, he is responsible for managing the operation of existing services, design and launch of new value added services, and client relationship management. Mr. Fernandes also supports exchange traded products creation and launch, and promotes the use of products across the investor community.
Chris Flood
Chris Flood is a reporter at the Financial Times covering the exchange traded funds industry, indices and passive investment strategies for FTfm, the fund management supplement. Chris has been a reporter with the FT for nine years, previously working in the markets department where he contributed to the UK and European stock markets reports and helped to provide coverage of commodity markets for five years. He is a graduate of St Andrews and London University where he studied English literature and economics respectively.
Deborah Fuhr
Deborah Fuhr a partner at ETFGI, an independent research and consultancy firm. ETFGI’s annual paid subscription service provides 1) a monthly global report which includes over 200 pages of charts and analysis on the global ETF and ETP industry covering fund flows, provider, index provider, exchange and broker rankings basis, 2) a monthly directory of ETFs and ETPs and 3) the ETFGI database web tool on a country, regional or global basis to allow investors to find and compare ETFs and ETPs across various characteristics.
She was the Global Head of ETF Research and Implementation Strategy and Managing Director at BlackRock/BGI from 2008 – 2011, a Managing Director and head of the Investment Strategy team at Morgan Stanley in London from 1997 – 2008.
ETFGI won Best ETF Research 2012 in the ETF Express awards. In 2012, 2009, 2008 and 2007, Ms Fuhr was named as one of the Top 100 women in Finance, by Financial News.
Simon Gleeson
Simon Gleeson joined Clifford Chance in 2007 as a partner in the firm’s International Financial Markets group. He specialises in financial markets law and regulation, was seconded to the Financial Services Authority in 1999-2000 to assist with the development of the market abuse regime, and advised the World Economic Forum on their report on their 2009 Report on The New Global Financial Architecture. He has advised Governments, regulators and public bodies as well as banks, investment firms, fund managers and other financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory issues. He is a member of the Financial Markets Law Committee and the Institute for International Finance’s Regulatory Committee, has written numerous books and articles on financial regulation, and is the author of “International Regulation of Banking”, recently published by Oxford University Press.
Doug Gratz
Doug Gratz is a global product specialist for RAFI portfolio applications and alternative indexing approaches.
With over 25 years of investment experience, he began his career as a trader at PNC, Mellon Bank, and Gratz Trading dealing with arbitrage opportunities in securities, futures, and options.
Doug earned an MBA from Columbia University with dual concentrations in finance and marketing. He received a BS with highest honors from California Polytechnic University. Doug is a member of CFA Institute and the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts.
Jodie M. Gunzberg
Jodie M. Gunzberg, CFA is Head of Commodity Indices, at S&P Dow Jones Indices. Jodie is responsible for the product management of the S&P Commodity Indices, which includes the S&P GSCI®, widely regarded as the leading measure of general commodity price movements and inflation in the world economy. In addition, Jodie writes index methodologies, educational material and market commentary.
Lars Hamberg
Lars Hamberg, portfolio manager of global multi-asset funds at Aktiva Fonder. Lars previously worked for UBS and ABN AMRO in various roles, including head of equity research. He has experience from financial training and as arbiter to the SCC Arbitration Institute. Lars was responsible for restructuring Glitnir AB, as CEO.
Nizam Hamid
Nizam Hamid is currently an Independent Index Consultant at FTSE Group. Prior to this, from November 2010, he was Head of ETF Strategy and Deputy Head of Lyxor ETFs. Before joining Lyxor he was Head of Sales Strategy for the Europe and the Middle East at Blackrock/BGI in London. He holds a Degree in Economics from the University of Liverpool.
Rebecca Hampson
Rebecca Hampson joined IndexUniverse.eu in September 2012 from Dow Jones Corporation, where she covered ETFs and commodities on the trading and technology desk at Financial News. During her time there she was also published online in the Wall Street Journal.

Paul Heffernan
Paul Heffernan is head of business development for Northern Trust’s EMEA ETF business, and has over thirteen years’ experience in the investment funds industry. In his current role Paul provides guidance to international ETF fund managers on European and offshore traditional and alternative investment structures. Paul has also been involved in developing significant enhancements to Northern Trust’s distribution capability, working with ESMA and other regional regulators to develop the UCITS product, and delivered operational enhancements to the European cross border ETF settlement infrastructure.
Matt Hougan
Matt Hougan is executive vice president, global head of content for IndexUniverse LLC. In this position, he oversees the company’s editorial efforts, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of the ETF Report and senior editor of the Journal of Indexes. Widely quoted in the financial media, Hougan is a member of the Wall Street Journal’s “The Experts” panel on Wealth Management, and a founding member of CNBC’s ETF Advisory Council. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1998 with a degree in philosophy.
Dennis Hudachek
Dennis Hudachek is an ETF analyst at IndexUniverse. He previously worked as a senior specialist in the Global Wealth Management division at Merrill Lynch. Working closely alongside financial advisors over eight years has provided Dennis with extensive knowledge of the industry and a wide range of financial products. Simon Klein
Simon Klein began his career in 2000 at Bayern LB, working in the Cash Equities Sales and Trading division, before moving on to Indexchange Investment AG in 2005. As Senior Sales Manager there he was responsible for business in exchange-traded funds (ETFs). From 2007 to early 2011 Klein was in charge of sales for ETFs and exchange-traded commodities (ETCs) for continental Europe at Deutsche Bank. Following a move to Lyxor Asset Management, Klein became responsible for their European business in ETFs, as well as business development, ETFs and indexing on a global level. Since April 2013 Simon Klein has been working in the Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (DeAWM) division of Deutsche Bank, where he has taken on the new post of Head of ETFs and ETC Sales for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Lee Kranefuss
Mr. Kranefuss joined Warburg Pincus as an Executive-in-Residence (EIR) in 2012. Mr. Kranefuss will work to help Warburg Pincus identify and evaluate investment opportunities in the areas of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), index investing and asset management, particularly in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Mr. Kranefuss was the architect and Global Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iShares, part of Barclays Global Investors (BGI), where he built the largest global ETF platform. Mr. Kranefuss oversaw the global expansion of iShares from launch in 2000 to over $600B in assets in 2010. While at BGI, Mr. Kranefuss was a member of the Executive Committee, and – in addition to running iShares – managed all of BGI’s institutional indexing, money market, asset allocation, portfolio restructuring, securities lending and private equity businesses, which comprised total assets of more than $1.5 trillion. Subsequent to the acquisition of BGI by BlackRock, Mr. Kranefuss worked on post-merger integration and transition management before departing BlackRock in 2010.
Lars Kroijer
Mr. Kroijer was the CIO of Holte Capital Ltd, a London-based market neutral special situations hedge fund which he founded in 2002 before returning external capital in the spring of 2008. Prior to establishing Holte Capital, Mr. Kroijer served in the London office of HBK Investments focusing on special situations investing and event-driven arbitrage. He is the author of “Money Mavericks – Confessions of a Hedge Fund Manager” and currently serves on the advisory board Merian Capital and OVS Capital (both London based hedge funds).
Allan Lane
Allan is a founding partner of Twenty20 Investments, a provider of actively managed ETF portfolios. Prior to this Allan spearheaded BlackRock’s iShares’ investment research in Europe, working in the client solutions space. Previously he has held a number of senior roles at Barclays Global Investors, RBS and JP Morgan.
Samu Lang
Samu Lang (CEFA, M Sc. Economics), is a CIO / Partner at Taaleritehdas Asset Management, were he is responsible for global asset allocation strategies. Since the founding of the company, 18.9.2007, every allocation mandate has been managed by liquid index products, mainly ETFs.
Arnaud Llinas
Arnaud Llinas was appointed Head of the Lyxor ETFs & Indexing business in January 2013. Arnaud started his career as a risk analyst at Fauchier Partners, BNP AM fund of hedge funds arm in London. He joined SG CIB in 2004 as a trader in the Equity Derivatives department. From 2005 to 2008, he participated actively to the development of the SG Equity index platform and worked hand in hand with Lyxor to develop the ETF range.
He became Head of 1 Delta Listed Products trading team in 2008 covering Structuring and Market-Making for ETFs, Certificates, Single stock and Dividend futures in Europe. Arnaud is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d’Electricité (Supélec) and holds a master’s degree in Finance of Pierre and Marie Curie University.
Tilman Lueder
Tilman Lueder is head of the unit dealing with investment funds at the European Commission’s Internal Market department. The unit is responsible for developing European policy in the area of investment funds. This involves drafting legislative proposals, implementing measures and pre-legislative impact studies. The unit currently administers the EU rules applicable to collective investment schemes (UCITS) and those applicable to alternative investment fund managers (AIFMD). The unit represents the Commission in Council and Parliament as well as with the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
Previously, from January 2005 to April 2011, Tilman was head of the copyright unit. He represented the Commission in Council and Parliament. He also represented the Community and its Member States in the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). From 2002 to 2004 he was the Commission’s spokesman for antitrust and state aid policy. Tilman joined the European Commission’s antitrust department in 1999, after having worked for several years as a lawyer in private practice.
Tilman holds a doctorate from the University of Tübingen (Germany) and a diploma awarded by the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium).
Michael John Lytle
Michael John (‘MJ’) is Chief Development Offi cer at Source with specifi c responsibility for marketing and broader involvement in product creation and design. Prior to joining Source, MJ was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley in London where he was focused on the creation, marketing and distribution of multi-asset class retail structured products. During his eighteen years at Morgan Stanley, MJ had responsibility for a variety of investment banking roles stretching across Corporate Finance, Capital Markets Origination, Trading, Sales, Equity, Fixed Income, Private Wealth and Technology Strategy. MJ has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College.
Jacco Maters
Jacco Maters is Group Head Equity of Allianz, the world’s largest insurance company. In this function he is responsible for the equity investment strategy of all Allianz entities worldwide. Next to that Jacco is Deputy Head of the Group Tactical Asset Allocation department. Jacco also holds a seat in the Supervisory Board of Allianz Rosno Asset Management, a large Russian asset manager. Jacco is a CFA and CAIA certificate holder.
Dimitris Melas
Dimitris Melas is Managing Director, Global Head of New Product Development.
Prior to joining MSCI, Dr Melas worked at HSBC Asset Management where he was Head of Research and Head of Quantitative Strategies and member of the Global Investment Strategy Group.
Dr Melas is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering, an MBA in Finance, and a PhD in Financial Mathematics from the London School of Economics.
Steffen Meyer
Steffen Meyer is employed as postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Personal Finance at the House of Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt. He received his doctorate degree from the EBS Business School in 2008. Recent work has focused on potential solutions to investment mistakes of private households (e.g. ETFs).
Alan Miller
In June 2009 Alan Miller co-founded SCM Private; a specialist Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) investment management company.
Alan was formerly CIO and founding shareholder of New Star Asset Management. Prior to this he has managed various retail and institutional portfolios within Jupiter Asset Management, Gartmore and Hermes.
Alan is also a non-executive director of several private healthcare and research companies including Pharminox Ltd and Tissue Regenix Plc.
Manooj Mistry
After Graduation in Economics and Business Finance from Brunel University Manooj was with Merrill Lynch International in London where he was responsible for the development of the LDRS ETFs, the first ETFs to be launched in Europe and also worked on fund vehicles for the issuance of structured products. In 2006 Mistry joined Deutsche Bank where he was Head of db X-trackers ETFs UK. At the end of 2012 Manooj was appointed Head of ETPs and Institutional Business EMEA at Deutsche Asset & Weatlh Management. He is based in London.
David Murtagh
David Murtagh joined Susquehanna International Group in 2001 and subsequently went through the firm’s internal trader training program. He spent a number of years working on SIG’s Index and ADR trading desks before moving to the ETF trading desk in 2006.
Arne Noack
Arne holds a degree in Economics from Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster/Germany. He joined Deutsche Bank in 2007 as part of the funds platform of Deutsche Bank Global Markets on which he was previously focusing on providing structured funds solutions for both institutional and private client distribution. Later he became a Structurer of db X-trackers ETFs, the Exchange Traded Funds business of Deutsche Bank, with a focus on fixed income ETFs, the db X-trackers platform in Asia and tailor made funds across asset classes. Since December 2012 Arne is responsible for Manufacturing of ETFs at Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management.
Adriano Pace
Adriano Pace is a director at Tradeweb, responsible for equity derivatives and ETFs in Europe. Since joining Tradeweb in 2010, Adriano has been running the equity derivatives client-to-dealer platform in Europe, and he is now also responsible for Tradeweb’s new ETF platform.
After starting his career with a three year spell on the equity futures and options desk at Union Bank of Switzerland, he moved to Credit Suisse First Boston where he became a director in the equity derivatives division, managing a vast array of European clients for five years. Then, as a director of the global equity derivatives desk at Deutsche Bank AG, Adriano was responsible for the sales coverage of UK institutional clients in all flow derivatives and for marketing new derivatives products to clients across the UK. In 2006 Adriano joined consultancy ‘lucidate’ and was responsible for financial training in the areas of derivative markets, derivative and volatility products, fund management trends and portfolio strategy. Adriano holds a B.A. in economics from Kent University and an MsC in economics with finance from Bristol University.
Gareth Parker
Gareth Parker is Senior Director, Index Research, Design & Development—EMEA for Russell Investments’ European indexes. Gareth works closely with index users to understand their index requirements and to develop Russell indices that match their exact needs. Prior to joining Russell in 2011, Gareth was with FTSE and S&P. He has particular interest in include the indexation of non-linear payoffs, less correlated markets, and of complex strategies.
Gabriel Rauterberg
Gabriel Rauterberg focuses on the structure of financial indices, ETFs, and emerging financial instrumentalities in the OTC derivatives market. His published research has been widely covered in the news media. Gabriel is also a practicing attorney and represents both investment banks and emerging companies in securities fraud and other complex civil matters. Gabriel earned his law degree from Yale Law School and an Honors B.S. from the University of Toronto.
Sjoerd Rietberg
In 2003 Sjoerd started his trading career at precisely the moment when trading evolved from the pit to screens. In 2005 Sjoerd joined Flow Traders. In the years since Flow’s inception, Sjoerd has been a key contributor to the company’s trading strategy, set-up and operations, acting as Head of Trading since 2009. In 2010, Sjoerd was named COO due to his keen insight into the necessary inter-relationship between technology and trading. He is responsible for both Trading and IT & Development operations.
Laetitia Roche-Hintzy
Laetitia Roche-Hintzy is Head of Amundi ETF Capital Markets at Amundi. Prior to taking on this role in November 2012, she was Institutional Sales in charge of Amundi ETF development amongst French & pan European institutional clients at Cheuvreux from 2008.
Prior to this, Laetitia was a Marketing Director at Lyxor AM (2002- 2008), notably in charge of the Lyxor ETF range development and marketing. She started her career at Société Générale Corporate Investment Banking on sales and marketing of OTC options. Laetitia Roche-Hintzy holds a Master from ESSEC Business School Paris and a graduate university degree from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Strasbourg.
Jan-Rommert Straatman
Jan Rommert Straatman is member of the Global Balanced Solutions Team of BNP Paribas IP and is responsible for managing the institutional balanced mandates en lifecycle funds in the Netherlands. Prior to this role Jan Rommert worked as Portfolio Manager for Fortis Investments and as an Investment Specialist for several banks in the Netherlands. He has over 15 years experience in the investment industry. He holds a degree in Accountancy and Business Economics from the Hogeschool voor Economische Studies Amsterdam and is registered by VBA and EFFAS.
Olivier Rousseau
Olivier Rousseau joined the management Board of the French Pension Reserve Fund (FRR) in November 2011. After graduating from the French National School of Administration (ENA) in 1986 he joined the French Treasury in Paris.
Olivier worked 11 years at BNP Paribas in corporate banking and financial markets (asset swaps, fixed income origination, equity research and distribution, corporate finance, equity derivatives), in Paris and mostly abroad. He also served on the Board of directors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and as economic counsellor at the French embassy in Stockholm
Martijn Rozemuller
Martijn Rozemuller holds a Master Degree in Business Studies from the Technische Universiteit Twente. He has been active in the financial industry since 1995 when he started as an arbitrage trader with leading Dutch Market Maker Optiver. After leaving Optiver he founded ThinkCapital, the first Dutch ETF issuer, in 2008. Martijn has an in-depth knowledge of ETF’s and in his role as managing director at ThinkCapital he deals with every aspect of the development in the ETF industry.
Philip Seegerer
At Assenagon, Philip Seegerer is responsible for the portfolio management of in-house Assenagon UCITS funds as well as further specialized investment funds across different asset classes investing in ETFs. His diploma in Mathematical Finance and Economics (2008) at the University of Munich (TUM) focuses on stochastics and capital markets. As a spin-off of his diploma thesis on “Pricing Correlation Sensitive Cross Asset Portfolio Derivatives” he contributed the article “Cross Asset Portfolio Derivatives” to the book “Alternative Investments and Strategies.
Jörg Sengfelder
Jörg Sengfelder is working as Sales Trader at Flow Traders B.V. covering German speaking clients in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Prior to joining Flow Traders he spent more than 5 years at DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale where he help to build up the ETF provider ETFlab Investment GmbH and later headed up the ETF Advisory & Trading team. Jörg stated his career in 2006 as ETF Product Manager at Indexchange Investment AG.
Peter Sleep
Peter joined 7IM in 2007. Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co in Manchester, before joining Citibank as an internal auditor. After three years in that role, he worked for 11 years in Citibank/Citigroup as fund manager and analyst. Prior to joining 7IM he worked as an analyst at Man Group. Specialist areas/responsibilities: portfolio strategy, quant funds, investment auditing, alternative assets/methodologies and Japanese equities.
Nicholas Soerensen
Nicholas is a Vice President and Senior Product Advisor in Deutsche Banks’ Wealth Management business in Luxembourg. Before joining Deutsche Bank in Luxembourg, he gathered professional experience from working for Deutsche Bank, Deutsche Börse and the German Central Bank in Frankfurt, Luxembourg and New York. Nicholas has a Double-Master’s degree in Finance and Strategic Management from studying in Copenhagen, Hong Kong, and Rotterdam.
Mark Spanbroek
Since the launch of FIA EPTA in June 2011, Mark Spanbroek has served as Vice Chairman and a member of the Executive Committee and is also serving as the Secretary General since June last year. Mark retired from Getco in 2011 after serving for nine years at Getco Europe Ltd. as head of Business Development and Market Structure. Before joining Getco, Mark was a Director of Global Derivatives at Van Der Moolen Holding N.V.
Mark was a member of the Expert Group on Market Infrastructures (EGMI), which finalised its report on the European post-trade landscape in October 2011. He is also a former member of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange Council.
Peter Tchir
Peter Tchir started TF Market Advisors in 2011 to provide global macro research with a strong foundation in the fixed income markets. With 20 years of experience in fixed income trading ranging from structured products, high yield bonds, and $1 trillion of CDS indices, the in depth knowledge of FI markets and trading relationships allows TFMA to provide unique insight into global markets. FI ETF’s have grown, and Peter’s experience with them and their managers enables him to analyze them both from an “asset class” level and by “drilling down” into the portfolio to provide strategies for investors.
Mirela Vlad
Mirela Vlad joined MTS in 2003 as a Regional Director. Based in France, she is responsible for the marketing and sales of the EuroMTS Indices, the first independent, transparent, tradable, real-time government bond indices in the eurozone.
Prior to that, Mirela Vlad worked as a reporter for Dow Jones Newswires covering European fixed-income markets and as a bond trader for BNP Paribas.

Jim Wiandt
Company founder, Chief Executive Officer and Publisher of IndexUniverse.com, IndexUniverse.eu, Exchange-Traded Funds Report (ETF Report) and Journal of Indexes (JoI). Jim founded Index Universe LLC in 1999 with a vision of creating the central hub for information and analysis on indexes, index funds and ETFs. That year he acquired Indexes: The Journal of Index Issues from Dow Jones, and transformed the publication into a fully independent journal with broad support from the index industry. Jim made an early move into ETFs, purchasing the Exchange-Traded Funds Report (the longest-running ETF newsletter in the world) in 2003.
Mark Wiedman
Mark Wiedman, Managing Director, is global head of the iShares business at BlackRock. Prior to moving to his current role, he was the head of Corporate Strategy. Before that, he led the clients and advisory team within the Financial Markets Advisory Group.
Before joining BlackRock, Mr. Wiedman led the global product development and strategy group at Morgan Stanley Investment Management. He previously was a management consultant at McKinsey & Co. and also served as senior advisor and chief of staff for the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance at the US Treasury.
Mr. Wiedman earned an AB degree, Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude, in Social Studies from Harvard College in 1992 and a JD degree from Yale Law School in 1996.
Sacha Widin
Sacha Widin is a Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Zurich where he heads the Wealth Management Funds team. He and his team manage multi-asset class funds which invest globally. Mr. Widin holds a BSc in Business Administration and Economics and is a Certified European Financial Analyst (CEFA). He is also member of the Swiss Financial Analyst Association (SFAA).
William White
William White is the chairman of the Economic Development and Review Committee (EDRC) at the OECD in Paris. This committee carries on regular evaluations of the policies of member countries and such others as China and India. He was also a member of the Issing Committee, advising the German chancellor on G-20 issues. White has published and spoken widely on the issue of macroeconomic stability and, well before the crisis, repeatedly warned of the dangers arising from too rapid growth in debt and credit. From June 1994 through June 2008, he was Economic Adviser at the Bank for International Settlements, and previously served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada. White received his PhD from the University of Manchester.
Stephen Yeats
Stephen is a Senior Investment Manager within the Fixed Income Beta Solutions group at State Street Global Advisors, having joined the company in February 2007. He is currently responsible for managing a team of investment professionals based in London and is also responsible for leading SSgA’s fixed income ETF investment management process globally.
